Few weeks ago , (Unplayed): OurTeam we stepped into the Upside Down at HackFest Advaita 2k26, a 12 Hour Stranger Things themed hackathon hosted by IIIT Bhubneswae and came out with a 3rd rank.
Well we worked on the problem statement: web based synchronized media player, to which our proposed solution was InSpace, a real time synchronized media player where one Broadcaster controls the room and every Listener follows, basically a single room podcast but with media and synchronized watchalong features.
InSpace included features focused on Broadcaster authority, Socket.io based real time sync, Dual media support broadcasters can push either a locally uploaded video or a YouTube URL, Auth + role enforcement (we used SQLite) additionally InSpace was Dockerized for persistent uploads and database management.
When the Broadcaster hits pause, every Listener freezes at the same frame, at the same point of time. That shared moment of synchrony is what InSpace is really about. The project is live you can test it out but i’ll recommend to go check it out live at: https://inspace.riteshsahoo.com/
